The Dress

Beautiful Essense of Australia wedding dress for sale. Model number D3565 (2023 design - https://www.essensedesigns.com/essense-of-australia/wedding-dresses/d3565/).

This dress made me feel like a princess on my wedding day and it was comfortable enough to wear all day and night. The bodice is semi-sheer with beaded lace which sparkles beautifully. The dramatic Mikado ball gown skirt features buttons with a clean look to the front and sparkling damask detail on the train. The dress also has pockets.

The dress has been professionally cleaned but there are still some signs of wear as shown in the photographs. The bottom of the underskirt has some staining and there are a few marks towards the edge of the train (at the side of the train rather than the rear). There are two buttons missing, however the dress has a zip fastening and the buttons are a decorative feature only.

In my opinion this is a white dress and it was slightly paler than the ivory veil I wore on the day. I was not advised of any colour options in the boutique and just purchased based on the sample I tried on. This was a new design that had just arrived in the boutique this year.

The dress has been wrapped in acid free paper and professionally boxed. Unfortunately, I don’t have the original dress bag as my seamstress replaced it with a different branded bag (Martina Liana) which will be sent with the dress. Please note the skirt will require steaming as it has creased in the box.

Alterations

Originally a size 16 with alterations to fit a size 12 with a larger bust. The dress has been altered to fit: waist 78cm and bust 96cm. The front of the skirt has been hemmed to suit my height of 171cm (in shoes). The sleeves have been fitted with ‘poppers’ so can be worn tighter or looser as desired. They also have hidden elastic to the rear for added comfort.

A loop has been added for the bustle which is around half way down the skirt (hidden between the buttons). There is also a larger loop hidden underneath the train to enable easy hanging when it’s in the dress bag.
