Tara & Rory from Machu Picchu to Yarra Valley

Tara and Rory's wedding photos capture so much love and laughter. The smile on the bride's face as captured by She Takes Pictures Me Makes Films is completely infectious.

"Rory and I met in 2003 when we were just 16 and 17. I was at one of my best friend's houses partying while her parents were away and her cousin Rory arrived with a few friends to stir things up!

We were travelling in 2014 and Rory's proposal plans were thwarted in all sorts of iconic places - a helicopter flight into the Grand Canyon, by the beach in Cuba, in Rio, at a restaurant by the Argentinian Iguazu Falls; all for the most ridiculous things that can only happen to you when you're travelling overseas! In the end, Rory found the moment when we were alone on an outcrop of a mountain overlooking the Inca site Machu Picchu in Peru.

I'm not normally a spiritual person, but there is something really special about Machu Picchu. It is a majestic, powerful site and so full of natural beauty and old wisdom.

The proposal happened at the right time and place.

A highlight of our wedding was our vows. Our wedding was quite casual, without rings, readings or traditional ceremony. Our vows were a pre-written conversation between us, with one line spoken by me, the next by the Rory and on it went. We recalled for ourselves and our guests the memories, experiences and moments we had shared over the last ten years. We crossed over from the sentence beginnings of 'we have...'s to 'we will...'s midway through the conversation and we were making our vows for our lives moving forward before anyone realised what we were up to.

The process of choosing the wedding dress was brief. I came across the Paolo Sebastian Swan Lake dress in Cosmo Bride quite early on in the planning process. I visited three boutiques in Melbourne and nothing came close to what I felt like when I imagined wearing that dress! I'm usually pretty decisive once I find something I like, so I stopped looking. I'm glad I went with my first instinct. Aptly named, the Swan Lake dress makes you feel so light and joyful that you want to dance and spin! That was the attitude I wanted to take into our wedding day; to just delight in everything we were celebrating about our lives and our relationship."
