The Dress

This all-silk Jenny Packham Aspen gown is a dream wedding dress – stylish and elegant with all the glamour of 1930s Hollywood.

The Aspen gained a following after Jenny Packham used an image of the gown to spearhead her worldwide 2012 Spring/Summer Collection campaign, and again after Kate Middleton wore a peacock version to the 2012 Olympic Gala.

This dress is a Jenny Packham size UK10 – some say this is a size 8 Australian but I would say it’s an 8-10. It has had no alterations to the main structure of the dress, but has been taken up by a few centimetres at the bottom of the gown by a master seamstress at Le Lourve.

The dress showcases beautiful chiffon, light & lacy cap sleeves, lace detailing in the bodice, and an all-lace illusion back. A row of silk clad buttons secures the back of the dress from the neck down to the waist. The waist is clinched by a silk sash with beautiful embellishment detail at the front and a delicate bow at the back. The fitted bodice falls away into a full silk skirt with a silk-chiffon overlay, which skims the hips and bottom, filling out into a long puddle train. It has a short train and has had a loop added to allow ease when walking around. All these design traits combine for a stunning and memorable wedding gown.

I felt absolutely amazing in this dress and received so many compliments. Not only is the dress stunning but it is so comfortable to wear – light, soft and beautifully cut allowing it to fall perfectly and move effortlessly. I am sad to part with it, but I hope that this dress can make someone else feel as beautiful and romantic as I did on my wedding day.
