The Dress

This gown is from the Lusan Mandongus 2013 collection which was inspired by the glamour of the 20s and 30s and this particular dress, the Inola, has a definite old Hollywood glamour feel to it. It has a sophisticated mermaid/trumpet design.

The bodice is made from silk satin with a pleated plunging neckline and sparkling beads. The body hugging skirt is made from an intricate lace and the fit accentuates feminine curves, yet it’s not so tight that it makes you feel overly exposed or like you can’t eat!

It’s a supremely easy dress to wear. It has no tight corsetry to make you uncomfortable so you can wear it all day without even noticing. The train and flared skirt gives it suitable drama, but it’s not restrictive so you can happily walk and dance in it.

I bought it from Lusan Mandongus’s flagship London supplier - Teokath of London in Wimbledon. I had adjustments made to the length as it was very long. I am 161 cm and wore a 5 cm heel. It was also taken in at the bust. I am a size 8 with a small bust and the dresses come from the manufacturer with a very large bust even on the smaller sized gowns. I am a 34B bra size though even after the adjustments it would still fit a much larger bust. I had a very discreet bustle added to the back of the dress so that you can gather up the train for dancing.

I wore a two tier veil with a lace trim with the dress which I would be happy to throw in for free if you like it (can send pictures of this too).

I’ve had the dress professionally dry cleaned and it has no stains. It comes in the original garment bag.

Alterations

As described above, the bust was taken in substantially as the dress came from the manufacturer with an enormous bust (surprisingly for a size 8 dress). It was taken in to fit a 34B but it would still have accommodated a much larger bust. This also involved shortening the straps slightly.
A discreet bustle was added in order to give you the option to gather the skirt up for dancing.
