The Dress

When I tried on this tea-length gown I knew it was THE party dress for my wedding! The tea-length was perfect to show off my amazing baby-blue couture wedding shoes. The sweetheart neckline lifts and supports where needed and the fitted bodice gives a perfect shape. I don't feel comfortable in sleeveless, but I loved this dress so I had a tailor make satin and lace sleeves. I wore these on the shoulder for the ceremony, and then let them softly drape off the shoulder at my reception and for photos. I'm not a necklace wearer so the crystals around the waist were perfect for me, and I could pair my baby-blue shoes with blue crystal drop earrings to balance the look. I was very tempted to go with red satin shoes and a big, deep red rose in my hair - so you can really play with accessories! I love that the dress has a zipper and not 50 buttons, throughout the day I caught some breathing room by unzipping in transit between ceremony, photo locations and reception. The skirt flows out so elegantly when dancing - I felt like a ballerina cross with 50's swing - and this really made an impression on our guests for our first dance. This dress changes colour in the light - from white in soft sunlight to creamier during the night. Yes, it is polyester but that makes it lightweight and easy to clean, so its practical! It's too beautiful not to be worn again, and I hope that many other people buy, wear and enjoy, and then pass on this dress.

Alterations

I had custom-made sleeves, which were made from satin and lace. I also had a sturdy zipper put in and the dress taken in (and then out a little!!!). I went to an established expert tailor in Balmain for this after shopping around.
