The Dress

Made to Order Emilia Wickstead wedding dress made for me in 2016. I picked the ' R dress' from her A/W 14 Collection which was originally designed in black but was made for me in cream double wool crepe with a silk / satin lining. It has an open back with beautiful 3 covered buttons at the back of a slightly raised neck. Short sleeves, ankle length. Zip and hook and eye fastening at the back. Slit at the back which rises to just above the back of the knee.

I've always loved Emilia Wickstead and her designs are timeless, classic and beautiful. Her clothes are coveted and worn on the street, runway to royalty! She has a bridal line as well as custom made and made to order.

Our wedding was on a mild 1 September in the city and it was a perfect weight and very comfortable. I'd had a baby 4 months before and so for obvious reasons bust was a lot bigger but despite this managed to find a low cut bra to wear underneath. I'm normally a size 8 and am 5'2" but the measurements when taken came up in between a 12 and 14. The dress will Im sure require altering but was beautifully made and will be adjusted easily. I believe it could be taken back to Emilia Wickstead (you'll need to check) for the alterations (that was what I was advised to do - I'd of course forward over the receipt).

This was a perfect dress and I adored wearing it. I have considered dying and altering it but I cant bring myself to do any drastic changes as it was made in this particular luxurious fabric and would hate to ruin it!

The dress has a small mark on the lower part of the skirt towards the side seam. It was dry cleaned by scobies, London (as recommended by the ladies at Emilia Wickstead) but the mark is still there. It is subtle but would either need to have a further treatment to remove or perhaps when altering the dress may be taken in to remove the mark. Pictures of mark available on request.
