About the Dress
This is an Ashley & Justin one of a kind dress. Per the retailer, it was marked as a "one of a kind," which means it was the ONLY dress made and was only used for the designer's trunk show, then sent to be sold at the store. I was very happy to have the chance to wear this dress because it was not manufactured in large quantities like many other dresses are. It will truly and completely be YOUR dress and yours only!
This dress is perfect for anyone who has a boho/rustic sort of theme to their wedding. As seen in the photos, it is floor length and has a small train that is approximately 2 ft long when down. I left the train down for my ceremony then bustled the dress for the reception. I am 5'9 and wore flats for my wedding; the dress did lightly graze the floor throughout the evening, but was very manageable. I was told that the length/hem can be altered and shortened for someone of a different height, I just preferred it to be floor length for my wedding.
One of my favorite things about this dress is the beautiful guipure lace detailing. According to bridal fabrics.com, "guipure lace is made up of a continuous motif, which creates a denser, more raised pattern than other qualities, and often contains a floral or geometric design." As you can see in photos, this type of lace has a lot more open space then other types that can sometimes appear to have a netting in the background. This lace has wider, but very intricate patterns and you are able to see the nude colored slip of the dress underneath it. This nude slip is visible under the entire dress front and back; except under the sleeves. You will be able to see this in the photos as well. In other words, it is not the traditional stark/opaque white colored dress and does have more of an ivory and nude coloring to it.
I will be including the wedding veil I used with dress in this sale. It is approximately 41 inches long at the center, then tapers off at both sides and gets shorter along the sides to about 26 inches in length. It has ivory lace along the bottom portion of the veil, as well as minimal beading, crystals and pearl accents on the lace. The retail value I paid for the veil was $254.15. The brand is the Westwood Collection and the style number is 275.
This dress has been dry cleaned at a Five Star Cleaners Wedding Gown Specialist establishment. I can include a copy of the receipt by request and will ship the dress in the packaging from the cleaners.
Alterations
There were several minor alterations made to the dress to help it fit me a bit better. The first was elastic that was added to the inside of the top part of the sleeves so that they could stay in place better and to avoid having to constantly pull them up. The bodice was taken in minimally on the sides and had very thin boning added along the inside of the front portion of the dress to add more support. The hem was taken up a bit since I would be wearing flats and to avoid stepping on the dress. Lastly, a bustle was added to shorten train during reception. This is basically just a small elastic loop on the lower half of the dress that you fasten over a small button. It was very easy to use and not noticeable at all.
