The Dress

I fell in love with this dress more quickly than my husband (and that was pretty quick!) so I know someone else will feel as wonderful in it as I did.

It’s the Lucinda gown by Savannah Miller which is elegant and evocative of Hollywood glamour, whilst not feeling over the top - I wouldn’t consider myself a dressy person but it felt completely right for the day. Most importantly, it’s incredibly comfortable (even sitting down on a wooden chair was super comfortable considering all of the pearls which I didn’t notice at all). I absolutely loved wearing it - it was only the third dress I tried on and it really was love at first sight, and I hope it will get to make someone else just as happy (even more than one person!)

The gown is made from a slightly stretchy silk crepe base with a sheer tulle overlay adorned with hundreds of scattered pearls. Because of the fabric and construction, it's lovely and breathable with some stretch so you can eat / dance as much as you want in it. I wore it with a strapless wonderbra and M&S shaper shorts underneath and was seriously comfy the whole day and night.

It’s also so easy to do up with a hook and eye and zip that I managed to hook up the bustle and take it off myself (when those designated to the tasks were a bit too merry - luckily I don’t drink alcohol so was able to take great care with the dress!).

It’s perfect worn with the Henrietta shoes by Charlotte Mills if you’d like to complete the pearl effect, I even wore a pearl necklace and didn’t feel over the top as I didn’t wear a veil.

The dress has been carefully professionally dry cleaned by wedding dress specialists Treasured Possession, and is in a white presentation box with the dress wrapped in acid free tissue paper (value of cleaning and presentation box £160). It will just need to be steamed before wearing - the underskirt only, the tulle doesn’t need steaming.

It's in beautiful condition, and having inspected it I just found two tiny tan marks on the back of the underskirt. One is near the back hem so if you wished to shorten the train at all then this could easily be removed. In some of my photos you may see some confetti on the dress - these aren't stains and it's completely confetti free!

Alterations

This was a larger size so was altered down to the measurements above - it’s now closest to a fairly standard size 10.

A bustle option was added - there’s a hidden loop that can hook over a pearl button if you would like to shorten the train - I used it for the first dance but otherwise found it really easy to hold the skirt when I didn’t want the dress on the ground.
