The Dress

The Venus gown from Suzanne Neville is an ivory silk which has a matte finish, like a French Crepe fabric. It was purchased from the Harrogate Wedding Lounge in June 2022 and worn only once for my wedding day. The dress is very figure enhancing with contouring and hidden corseting that looks and feels completely effortless.

This dress has no label size as it was 'made to measure', so please look closely at my measurements provided to ensure it would fit you. I am usually a UK 10 in most dresses but I believe I matched more closely to a UK 12 in most wedding dresses I tried on (wedding dresses often size up).

As with all Suzanne Neville dresses, it has a hidden corset which means the dress feels very secure and can be worn as tight as you feel comfortable. The train begins just under the bum, at the end of the buttons, giving a flattering contoured shape.

The dress has been dry cleaned once. It is as good as new in all places except the very bottom where there are some marks from outdoor wear which I have shown in a couple of the pictures. These are barely noticeable when worn, but If you are a shorter bride (I am 5'7) these could easily be cut away in the tailoring of the dress for you.

Alterations

I had the dress made to measure so please look at my body measurements. I am usually a size 8 on top and 10 on the bottom but I believe wedding dresses typically run small, so I often tried size 12 in the sample dresses (however please rely more closely on the body measurements I've given). I also had additional cups sewn into the top and could be removed by a seamstress. Finally I had a thin waistband added in the same fabric as the dress and I believe this could be removed by a seamstress too.
