The Dress
Unfortunately I have no idea of the Brand\Designer of my beautiful vintage gown. It was originally bought from a boutique within Debenhams. There are no labels or tags anywhere within the dress.
I believe this dress to be a size 8-10 (my 14 year old, size 6 is modelling it)
My mum believes that the dress is made of silk but unfortunately there are no tags, it has zero snags, pulls, tears or marks anywhere and has no fading to any of the fabric. The dress is ivory colour and considering its age has been beautifully preserved with no signs of ageing or discolouration.
The dress is fitted (it is not boned), and has a beautiful full skirt, the dress is fully lined and also has a full netting to the dress which again is intact with no tears.
Beautiful lace adorns the perimeter of the dress (18cm at its widest) which has pearlescent sequins and little groupings of pearls throughout. The same beautiful lace is used as a mid frill at the bottom of the bodice which turns into a layered effect throughout the sides and into the most beautiful bow on the back. Roses are placed at the shoulders (front and back) and another seven of these are placed on the detailed bow at the back (two to each side and a further three grouped at the tip).
The sleeves are little capped ones although you're not able to see these as they are covered with the shawl effect, pleated coverings. The shoulders themselves are the same stunning lace covered with sequins and an additional frill that stands proud of the shoulders. Beautiful lace, sequins and pearls cover the front bodice of the dress.
Difficult to measure but I would say the dress is approximately 104cm length from the waist to the floor and the train is approximately another 110cm longer which provides the most beautiful full circle once displayed.
This truly is a magical dress for someone who loves vintage - it is in immaculate condition.
I have the four tiered lace underskirt for the dress which will also be part of the sale - this removes the need for any hooping under the dress and makes the skirt sit beautifully but does not give it too much extra width. The beautiful headrest and veil that were part of the same range will also be part of the sale.
I have many many other photographs that I can share which shows the dress in more detail. The dress was originally bought in 1989 (unsure of the year it was made), worn in 1990, dry cleaned and has been stored away ever since.
