The Dress

Muse by Berta Bridal , Ivone 22-36, from the Lake Como range.

Bought from the 2022 trunk show, worn at my wedding in Lake Como in September 2022. The dress is still in season for 2023. The dress is on the Berta website:

The dress was the first I tried on and bought immediately. It is stunningly beautiful with lace, pearl and jewel appliqué on the bodice that is elegant and sexy. It looks revealing but has an illusion neckline, you do not feel at all exposed. The A-Line skirt has godets for extra fullness and is lined with a nude colour skirt which also has the beaded lace detail showing through through skirt. The dress has a low V-back with more lace, pearl and jewel appliqué. It is not entirely backless.

beaded leaf and floral applique on the bodice creating a soft V-plunge. The beaded lace applique falls into the skirt with a low V-back neckline and scattered lace applique. I received no end of compliments from strangers at my wedding venue, I even got asked if I was on a photoshoot or if it was my actual wedding :)

The dress is a size 40 (UK 10), I am a UK 8 (sometimes 6), but was advised by the Wedding Club (the boutique I bought it from) to buy it a size bigger in case I put any weight on during the time it was being made. The wait time then was 9-12 months. I paid a £500 rush fee to have the dress made sooner. I had the dress altered to fit me. It is not a snug fit and the material stretches. I did not have it taken in tight at the waist. It can be taken in more if needed.

The A-line skirt has two layers; there are some small pulls in the underside. These are not noticeable when on. Depending on height/if the skirt is altered, they may be cut off.

I was advised by the boutique not to dry clean the dress. It has been sanitised with an alcohol spray (non marking) and spot cleaned.

Alterations

I was advised by the Wedding Club (the boutique I bought it from) to buy it a size bigger in case I put any weight on during the time it was being made. The wait time then was 9-12 months. I had the dress altered to fit me. It is not a snug fit and the material stretches. I did not have it taken in tight at the waist. It can be taken in more if needed.

It was taken in on the side seam and on top of the shoulder. The nude underskirt was shortened slightly to show more silhouette of the legs, as this was more flattering.

I also had it altered to make a bustle so that the tray can be hooked up. These alterations cost £600.
