The Dress

From the designer’s website: A fresh take on Chosen by KYHA’s cult favourite, Byron, Harris features an exposed boning bodice that accentuates the waist and draws the eye to the one shoulder sleeve. Finished with a fit and flare skirt, Harris delivers the perfect balance between sleek sophistication and intricate detail.

FIT: Fully structured bodice, one arm band, fit and flare skirt.

FABRIC: Bonded georgette, nude tulle, matte casings, satin lining.

FASTENING: Centre back zipper, covered buttons and loops on band.

A perfect statement dress; it has a timeless elegance due to the figure hugging silhouette. It was comfortable to wear (despite the material being thick it is lightweight) and it is easy to sit and dance in and is relatively low crease. The dress has been recently dry-cleaned and comes in a Wedding Club, London (where it was purchased) bag included. Please note that the dry cleaning has produced fantastic results and the dress looks almost as good as new (a few very small marks remain on the dress post clean (front middle section and back middle section) which are barely noticeable, but which I’ve photographed to demonstrate what I’m talking about). Please note that whilst I have tried to provide accurate measurements of the dress, this is hard to do in practice and, as such, I would recommend that you rely on the fact that this was fitted to a UK size 10 frame. If you are smaller than a UK size 10, a tailor should be able to reduce the dress to fit you but if you are bigger than a UK size 10 then I cannot guarantee that this dress will fit you.

Alterations

The dress was a size 5 (see photos) but was altered (by The Alterations Boutique in Marylebone, London) to fit my exact size which is a UK 10 (it is true to size, but probably closer to an 8 than a 12).

The Alterations Boutique added bra cups inside the corset part of the dress to allow it to be worn without underwear (I am a size C/D) and a bustle with a sheer ribbon wrist attachment which enabled me to lift the long train of the dress when walking around following the ceremony. Note that the bustle has snapped but I have tied it into a bow and so it still works.

The bottom of the dress was cut to my height plus heels (I am 170cm and the heel was 10cm). The material doesn't fray. It is not hemmed so it can't be let down but it can be made shorter. This could suit anyone who is up to 175-180cm in height depending on the height of the heel worn.
