The Dress

I fell in love with this beautiful gown the moment I tried it on and in fact it ended up being the first dress I tried on and was everything in comparison to anything else I tried after. I wore this beautiful gown at the end of March 2024.

The gown was purchased and made to order from Babushka Ballerina in Paddington for $3999. With my order I requested for an additional nude layer to be added to the bust area to avoid being see through. This was added only to the front of the bust of the gown. The back remains as original. Once the dress arrived, I had slight alterations made (totalling $430) by the highly recommended and regarded alteration store ‘The Fitting Room’ in Brisbane city.

I got married outdoors in beautiful Maleny and this gown was perfect for the garden setting I had. The gown is tulle with beautifully placed flower lace throughout the gown.

I had the dress dry cleaned within days following the wedding to ensure any marks were removed as best as possible given it was outdoors on grass/dirt. The dry cleaning totalled $660 and I have the receipt for this. Whilst there are some slight shades on the underlay of the dress from being worn outdoors, it is so minimal and cannot be seen once the dress is on. I have taken photos and a video wearing the dress to show the great condition of the dress after being dry cleaned.

The only thing I will say about this design is the thin strap on the back of the gown, while beautiful, did come undone at times so I would recommend having this more securely positioned. That said, I think this was the case for me as I have a larger bust for my waist size.

I am a size 6 with a small waist and ordered this gown in a XXS.

My measurements are:
Bust - 80cm
Waist - 60cm

I am 160cm tall and my shoes were 8.5cm heel height.

This dress is in great condition, and while I’m sad to be selling it, I’m hoping some beautiful bride to be gets to feel as amazing and as special as I did in this gown on their wedding day.

Alterations

I ordered extra lace so that it could be added to the neckline for a more softer edge and also had some lace added to the outer sides of the bust area for more coverage. I had 3 bustles added to the back of the gown to raise the train for the latter part of the wedding. I also had the hem taken up. I paid $430 for these alterations and I have kept the receipt for this.
