The Dress
The minute I saw this advertisement, I knew this was the dress for me. I felt like a queen or at the least, a modern princess, on my wedding day. The elaborate beadwork and sparkling silver embroidery on the bodice is exquisite. This dress really is a timeless masterpiece that embodies elegance and sophistication. My daughter is much more petite than I am (and shorter than me!) so I decided it is time for me to let this go. The sweetheart neckline gracefully accentuates the décolletage, adding a touch of romantic allure. But I liked that I still had a sheer organza bodice covering my shoulders and arms, with three-quarter length sleeves, as I got married in the winter and also, wasn't sure how much I wanted to feel completely bare with my arms and shoulders. I wanted to feel really comfortable swing dancing at our reception and this was the dress for that. The skirt of this ballgown is voluminous, with tulle underneath, and a short train. There are loops to bustle the dress, so you can take to the dance floor, and you may want to adjust the bustle to your preferences. This dress was professionally cleaned and preserved. I only opened it for the first time to list it here. The skirt has wrinkles in it, and will need to be steamed to get them out, by your dress person. I believe the design is timeless. When purchased 20 years ago, I paid nearly $5,000. The dress was worn once. I danced in it, and walked in a garden. The cleaners did a wonderful job preserving it. The color of the satin fabric has always been an ivory or cream tone, and the embroidered bodice organza is a brighter white color. Please reach out with questions. I am probably being conservative in saying that it is in "good" condition, rather than "excellent" condition.
Alterations
Two small loops were sewn in to bustle the dress, and very minor changes were made for fit in the bodice and hem. It fit my size 12 body like a glove, and at the time, I could probably wear some size 10s in some brands. I was a 36C bra size when I wore this gown.
