The Dress
I LOVE this wedding dress - it is so comfortable and flattering. It was really easy to dance in, and the bodice was supportive and lightly structured (no corset, but just heavier materials). The texture of the outer 'lace' was the biggest hit - it really glows in the light. I had the dress hemmed so the lacey layer was slightly longer at the base than the inner liners which shows off the texture so magically. The texture reminds me of a curtain - it feels natural and not like the 'plastic-y' materials that many of the modern dresses have. It's light weight, but holds it's weight - it's so hard to explain the wonderful natural texture.
There are two liner layers under the outer lace layer at the skirt (the top has two layers - a lightly ruched lace layer and an inner heavier liner that allowed me to wear it without a bra/support).
The long train is only the outer lace layer (again, really lets the light and texture show off) and is cut into a beautiful fan shape. It reminds me of a gingko leaf when it was fully laid out!
Dress is the "Sophie" style by Marchesa Notte, but alterations were made to the top to make it a more custom design.. reference the alterations notes below.
Height with heels (as shown in photos): 5 feet 10 inches. (normally I'm 5'-7" with a 'normal' torso length)
My measurements and how they fit into the dress:
Bust // 35" (which fit the dress with a bit of wiggle room.. probably could have fit a larger bust!)
Waist // 30" (fit perfectly with enough room to breath and laugh and eat all the cake)
Hips // 40" (loose at the hips - the dress fans out after the waist)
We got married on 08/17/24, so message me for more photos and details (including more zoomed in lace texture images) if needed. I love this dress and would love to pass it on to someone else who can give it the same love :)
I haven't dry cleaned the dress (yet!), but can if desired. The train has a little bit of dirt on it - we were married (and took photos) in a field but then the rest of the reception was on a lawn and the dress was bustled, so there's not much wear.
Alterations
Professional alterations were made by a Seattle-based bridal tailor. There were a few changes -
1. The top was altered and re-shaped. The dress originally was an off the shoulder scoop neck design (with a v-back), and was altered to have a v-neck that matched the back and worked with new on-the-shoulder straps. The material from the straps was created from excess fabric on the liner of the dress, so it matches the colors exactly.
2. The dress was taken in at the bust/waist. It was originally listed as a "12" (the shop said it was a street size 8) and it was taken in an inch or so. I'm in between a size 6/8 usually and it fits me perfectly. Measurements given on this site are from a couple days after my wedding, so pretty true-to-size in the pictures. There was enough space to breathe and dance like crazy :). Happy to take any and all measurements of the dress as needed!
3. Bottom of dress was hemmed - the two liners were brought up about an inch or two higher than the lacey outer layer so that the you could see the lace better around the shoes. I'm normally 5'-7" and wore shoes that made me 5'-10".
4. Bustle was added (the pictures I've provided don't show this), but there are 3 points to tie the train up in the back. Very helpful on the dance floor!
