The Dress

Dave and I had our wedding in December, 2016, in Boston. This dress is made of a heavy crepe material and is fully lined. It was very comfortable, both wear- and temperature-wise, throughout our pictures, ceremony, reception, and after party. I had a cloak for when the wind picked up, but this dress is quite adaptable. The cap sleeves are very comfortable, and are not restrictive; they are beaded with really beautiful details. The only undergarment I needed for this dress was a stick-on bra, the dress was well constructed enough to be comfortable, sophisticated, and gorgeous without crazy underpinnings. During the reception, the dress was bustled up to the buttons in the back. I am 5'3" and the length of the dress and bustle were perfectly brushing the floor. My number one compliment was that my dress was "stunning." Simply put, this sophisticated dress was a showstopper.

The story of this dress is kind of incredible. I bought this dress off of Still White from a woman in Australia. She had bought the dress in a size 6 and had it altered down to a 4 so that the cap sleeves would be a little larger - genius. Her measurements are 33/26.5/36, mine are 33/27/37. When I received the dress and tried it on, it fit so perfectly that I decided not to have it altered. The train is shortened from the original length, but is still long, as you can see in the pictures. The shorter train was also more comfortable to bustle; the crepe fabric is heavy!
