About the Dress
Stunning Kenneth Winston gown! Featuring hand beading on the bodice, bottom portion of the dress and train. Gold stitched appliqués with crystal beads give a gorgeous shimmer in the sun or flash photography. My husband wore a tan suit and it complemented the dress beautifully!
This dress could be altered to fit many different sizes and heights. The dress was extremely long - the majority of the "hemming" was achieved by altering at the waist. The fabric was not cut and could be left back down if needed. The rest of the hemming (about 4 inches) was achieved by "pin tucking" just above the applique on the bottom (shown in photos.) If you are petite you could have the dress hemmed to your exact height using this method. If you are taller you may not require any alterations to the length at all. I also had the dress taken in at the sides, but again, the fabric wasn't cut so it could be let out.
I had the corset replaced. I am fairly petite so I had to use smaller loops. The current corset is actually elastic so it would adjust if you wanted to leave it in. I had a snap closure and a hook and eye added to the back of the dress to ensure it fit snugly and didn't move. The dress is quite heavy with the beading and long train.
I would recommend having the corset replaced (there are a few missing loops.) With the corset you can make this dress fit a wide range of sizes and shapes.
The dress has been cleaned and is bright white again! Since it has been worn there is slight wear.
** Note: the photo of the dress hanging in the tree was taken after my wedding and reflects the current condition of the dress **
My info:
I am 5'3 and wore a 1" heel. I typically wear size 2 or 4. I wore a backless bra which helped fill out the bust area (I wear 32D and did not have the bust altered.)
My measurements:
Waist: 27"
Bust: 33"
Hips: 36"
Alterations info:
The alterations I had done were cosmetic and could be completely undone without visible damage. I had the dress hemmed 4" in a "pin tuck" style - I removed these stitches prior to having it cleaned. There are a couple of pin holes from the alterations, which are barely visible. I can send you photos if you'd like. Without any alterations this dress would fit someone who is approximately 5'8 (with wedding shoes on.)
