About the Dress

Fantastic dress with very minimal and practical alterations already done for you!

-Size 6, purchased directly from Vera Wang Bridal House at The Shoppes at MSB in Singapore.
- Original dress price valued at $11,632.50. Very minimal alterations, steaming etc. were approximately $1000.00 and were very well done by the best bridal shop in the area.
-Dress has been altered to fit street size 8 (approximately) but alterations were done with great care to maintain integrity of style of dress and can be easily removed to bring dress back to standard size. It has been altered in length and I had to bring out and add a small piece of fabric to the middle back so it would do up. This is an easy alteration to undo.. the problem is my ribs are 36'. It should be cleaned and steamed before use. It is a size 6, sweetheart strapless dress with natural waistline.
- I am 5'2 and altered dress to fit wearing approx. 4 inch heels.
- A bustle was added to make huge train of dress manageable for dancing the night away. Very easy to attach, very hidden in dress and it was very much needed!
- I am asking $2300.00. Buyer pays shipping costs!

Purple sash not included (I changed my sash). :) There are small imperfections/damages in the dress that I had hand sewn by tailors in Ho Chi Minh City before flying back to Canada with the dress. The style of the dress has a "ripped" look to it so imperfections are not easily noticed at all and the dress looks stunning. Everyone I have shown this dress to has commented on how beautiful it is and I am sad to part with it! I have the Vera Wang release waiver with witness signature as proof of purchase etc. Includes Vera Wang hanger, dress cover from the store and oyster sash. Buyer pays shipping and sale is final. I am very sad to part with this dress but we have a baby on the way so... it's time for someone else to enjoy this one of a kind, simply stunning dress! I was complimented ALL night and it was so worth every penny!

"If there is any one dress in my Spring 2012 collection that epitomizes the pageantry of the Paris Opera, it’s Hayley. The centrepiece of this dress, for me, is the absolutely stunning, theatrical cascade of organza petals in the skirt, all cut from the most delicate tissue organza. They just float on the dress like a spilling bouquet. I did the petals in two tones: first, in a soft sand color, and then a nude, so it just gives you a complex tonality that’s a little more special.
For even more movement and excitement in the skirt, I’ve also used pleated honeycomb tulle—it gives you a whole other texture and volume underneath that petal effect. You almost picture Hayley swirling across the stage in a Degas painting.
The dropped-waist bodice features softly draped illusion organza over a corset. That transparency effect—that play between “reveal” and “conceal”—is one of my favorite techniques.
I’ve used all the textures in this dress, particularly in the petals, to give Hayley a rich, luxurious look, instead of going with traditional bling. For me, it’s about using fabric manipulations to make things look new and modern. And it’s also all about the motion in the whole gown, not the static detail. I love being able to achieve slouch and ease in a gown, and I always do this very purposefully, with layer upon layer of organic elements, as you see in Hayley. Getting that stunning combination of seemingly effortless beauty that’s so perfect and strategic: that’s what brings a dress together for me.
