Michelle & Jarrod's Rustic Wedding

Michelle and Jarrod’s gorgeous wedding reflects so much love for their family.

Michelle tells their story. “Jarrod and I have always know each other through family and mutual friends, but didn't really get to know each other well until we both became involved in our local hockey club. The proposal was a total surprise, Jarrod suggested we have a night out in Melbourne. Once we were in the room he had organised for champagne and strawberries to be sent up and before I knew it he was on one knee proposing with a stunning custom designed engagement ring.

Everything just seemed to run so smoothly, it really was the best day of our lives (so far anyway!) and it was great to share such a special day with our families. We are both very close to our families and this is obvious in our wedding party - everyone was related to us in some way. Jarrod had his two brothers and my brother as groomsmen and I had my childhood best friend (also Jarrod's cousin) and his sister as my bridesmaids. Our flower girls were our nieces, who are also our god-daughters.”

Michelle’s gorgeous Ivy & Aster gown was purchased from the Bridal Atelier. “It was textured and a bit dramatic but also simple and fitted around the bust. As soon as I tried it on I knew, it fitted so perfectly and even though the gown was full, it was so comfortable and I didn't feel like I was wearing a big dress.”

“I love a rustic sort of look and this really suited our venue. I was surprised I chose the red bridesmaids dresses as I was initially looking at neutral colours but the dresses suited them both beautifully and worked in really well with the greenery at the venue. I was very particular with my flowers and loved the look of little jars and candles scattered around. My florist was amazing and really got what I was going for, the venue and our bouquets looked exactly as I had imagined.”

Michelle has this advice for the planning process “I discovered Pinterest shortly before becoming engaged and I would have to say this was my biggest source of inspiration. It was great to pins things I liked and slowly see a theme come together. It was also great to take to suppliers so they could get an idea of what I had in mind.

“My highlight was walking down the aisle to an acoustic version of "Time after Time" and seeing Jarrod's face as I turned the corner towards him. We also wrote our own vows so this was very special to share them on the day.

Don't lose sight of why you are getting married, it can be so easy to get caught up in the planning and all the minor details, but at the end of the day you are there because you love each other and want to share the rest of your lies together. Nobody is going to notice if everything doesn't go exactly as you planned!”

Congratulations on your marriage Michelle and Jarrod! Thank you for sharing your wedding story with us.
